2019 photographs of the year: Jojo Harper

Jojo was the National Geographic photography competition grand prize winner for 2012, and has gone on to work for major players both inside and outside the cycling industry in the following seven years.

Embedded with teams such as Boels Dolmans, Movistar and Katusha in past seasons, Jojo spent 2019 primarily with EF Education First and Trek-Segafredo (issue 19.7), and her pick of the year stems from work with those squads – from a blisteringly hot Tour Down Under to an emotional Emakumeen Euskal Bira in the Basque Country.

And Jojo’s favourite race to shoot? Paris-Roubaix, understandably. “Absolutely brutal and beautiful all at the same time. The only bike race where you have to experience it to truly understand it. By the end the riders look like they have been to war and I love to try and show that through photography.”
