Pegoretti's Ciavete Hiro pump and frame

Pegoretti offers the ultimate accessory for a 'Ciavete' frame: a Silca pump painted to match

Officina Pegoretti, founded by the legendary late Dario Pegoretti, is offering a matching Silca Hiro pump painted in its abstract 'Ciavete' style as an option when customers order one of its frames with Ciavete artwork. Back in 2015, the company partnered with Silca who supplied the Hiro pumps to begin a series of Ciavete pieces. The collaboration came to a natural end but now the Italian brand has restarted its Ciavete Hiro program and is sourcing and supplying the pumps itself.

The ‘Ciavete’ design process is in some ways an art form itself. Famously it is achieved through improvising and hand-painting in a freeform, often abstract manner, meaning each Ciavete is a unique composition, inspired by the moment and completed in one immersive, uninterrupted session.

"When we last created the Ciavete Hiro, each piece was a standalone item," said Cristina Wurdig, Co-CEO at Officina Pegoretti. "However, we've been getting more and more questions from clients asking if we might paint their Hiro pump to match their Ciavete frame commission, so they can enjoy the Ciavete conveniently at home as a design piece. So we decided to formalise the process, sourcing the pumps ourselves from Silca and, most importantly, painting each at the same time as we paint the client's frame, ensuring that the Ciavete artwork reflects the same feeling and style across frame and pump, creating one seamless piece of work."

However, Wurdig said, although Ciavete Hiro pump commissions are still available, the company is not offering a pump paintjob to match an existing Pegoretti bike because “they are created in isolation. They are not connected to a frame, nor can they be at a later date."

"Ciavete is an immediate, in-the-moment style," she explained. "To step back into a mindset for a piece we already created would be extremely challenging. The pump would not look the same as the frame."

The Ciavete Hiro pumps not only provide a unique and stylish addition to the customer’s bike appliances but also celebrate the legacy of the founder, Dario Pegoretti himself, a master craftsman renowned for the quality of his steel frames and his extraordinary unique paint finishes.

The price for a matching Ciavete Hiro is €980/$1,200/£800 – see Pegoretti's website for more details.
